"Three Balconies" - painted in 2016 - is an expressionist interpretation of a Caribbean Sunrise. As with my 2009 painting "Caribbean Sunset", it uses a series of geometric segments - a technique used by the early 20th Century Precisionist painter Charles Demuth - along with vibrant color and a touch of perspective to intensify the perception of depth and movement in the work.
